Move-It Monday!

It’s Monday, so let’s get moving! This cardio exercise is guaranteed to get your heart pumping and calories burning. Through it into your favorite strength circuit or do them on their own for a quick afternoon wake-up call!

1-2-3 SQUAT THRUST

Start in a low crouched position, with both hands flat on the floor under your shoulders, and knees bent under your body, heels lifted. Shift your weight into your straight arms, and jump both feet out and back to the right (imagine a triangle, your head is the center, you are aiming for the back right corner) extending your legs fully out as you land. Jump your feet back to start and then repeat to the left. Do this as many times as you can for one minute (you should need to catch your breath when this move is over!).

Move It Monday!

It’s Monday, which means it’s time to get moving! This two-for-one move will tighten up your lower body and help you burn fat by elevating your heart rate.

FORWARD REACHING LUNGES

Start standing with your feet together, both arms extended up overhead, palms facing away from you. Take a wide step forward with your right foot and immediately bend both knees about 90 degrees, lowering your body down, reaching both hands to the outside of your right foot (try to touch the ground with your fingertips if possible). Make sure your front knee stays behind your toes as you lower. Quickly push off the right foot and step back to your start position, pressing both arms back overhead. Repeat with the left leg. Do this for one minute alternating sides each time.

Move It Monday!

It’s Monday, which means its time to get moving! Try this plank variation to work your whole body and target your abs.

ELBOW PLANK KNEE TAPS

Prop yourself up on your elbows and tuck both toes under. Draw your abs in tight and lift your hips and thighs off the floor, making a straight line through your head, hips and heels. Press your forearms into the floor and keep your torso as still as you can (imagine you are balancing a book on your lower back) quickly alternate bending one knee and tapping it very lightly against the floor and then straightening it back out. EXTENDED CROSS CRUNCH

Lie on your back, with both legs extended and open wider than your hips on the floor and your right arm bent, hand behind your head. Your left arm is extended out to the side of your shoulder, palm pressed into the floor for support. Lift your left leg a few inches off the floor, with your toes pointed (photo A). Bend your left knee and turn your left heel up to the ceiling as you draw your left knee and right shoulder across to the leg (photo B). Extend your leg back out (but keep it lifted off the floor as shown in photo A) as you lower your head back to the floor. Repeat 20 times on one side, 20 on the other.
